Norway is a popular country for elopement weddings. People from all over the world come here to get married. Here you can hunt for the Northern light in the winter, say “I do” in the midnight sun, and if you like hiking you can get married with the most amazing back drop with breathtaking mountains and fjords. Are you more of the urbane type, seeking the pulse of a capital with lots of good restaurants, charm and luxury shopping, Oslo might be the place for you.
This gorgeous couple came all the way from Australia to get married in Oslo before Christmas. I had the please of taking their photos on this special day, and what a day it was! I just love how they had bough these typical touristy scarfs, and wanted to do photos eating hot dags. It was a cold day, as you can tell by the red noses, but they really couldn’t care less. I just love these classy, but funny and sassy photos from a lovely winter day in Norway!
The wedding ceremonie was in the oldest building in Oslo, Gamle Aker Kirke / Old Aker Church. It was an intimate wedding, with only the couple and the priest, the wedding planners - Brudepikene, the videographer and me present. Even with no guests it didn’t feel empty, but really powerful, and it was a beautiful moment filled with love between Bree and Sheldon.
After getting married we went on a little trip around town to get all the pictures we had planned for. We went to shoot at some of my favorite sites in Oslo: wedding photos at Akershus Festning (so many great locations here!) , then some pictures by the old stave church at Norwegian Folkemuseum /Norsk Folkemuseum. We wrapped it up by eting hot dogs in Spikersuppa, and here I got the amazing wedding picture inside the xmas decoration. Sorry for bragging but this picture - just WOW! Love it.
I started the day doing singel portraits of the couple in their suits at Grand Hotel Oslo. I really wanted to finish my “story line” with pictures of them together at the same location. Grand Hotel is one of the best hotels in Oslo, and with big windows and a great view over the main street, Karl Johan, it’s a fantastic location for wedding shoots.
This winter wedding in Norway did not contain much snow, but still it was a dream day for both the newly weds and for me as their wedding photographer. Thank you Sheldon and Bree for choosing me for your special Norwegian wedding in Oslo. I wish you all the best!
